UPDATE: The systemic racism and violence experienced by the Black community has ignited and galvanized a global response. We have decided to refrain from promoting the Changemaker’s Market until Monday, June 8. During this period, the Changemaker’s Market will continue to stay open, but we will now close the auction on June 12 at 9:00 PM.
This is a flourishing community built on resilience and care — and these same qualities will allow us to support one another and navigate these difficult days.
Now is the time for us to come together to raise and amplify the voices of the Black community and bring the harms that systemic racism has caused to the forefront.
Welcome to the Changemaker’s Market, a digital community of self-identified women movers and makers who have generously donated their goods and services to a silent auction benefitting the BC Women’s Health Foundation.
The Changemaker’s Market celebrates women-led businesses, entrepreneurs, and artists across the province. This event was born in response to the impact COVID-19 has had on small businesses — BC has the most women-owned small-businesses of any province. They were also the fastest growing before the pandemic. Today, 31 percent of owners think the pandemic might force them to shut down permanently.
From May 30 to June 12, bid, buy, support, connect, and create change. Items and services range from a collaborative interior design session with Laura Melling Studio to over 20 pieces of art by artists such as Zoe Pawlak and Genevieve Allen. Each woman involved brings a perspective, a story, and a skillset that is uniquely hers. Standing together, it’s a community rooted in generosity, collaboration, and a steadfast commitment to ensuring that small business not only remains intact, but illuminates the very best qualities of resilience and innovative partnership along the way.
