ONE YEAR OF GIVING, FOUR ESSENTIAL PROJECTS

The Auxiliary is rising to meet the most urgent needs of BC Women’s Hospital with their most recent donation of $113,450 for 2019.

This contribution is funding four essential projects that will ensure women have access to the highest quality healthcare.

THE NEXT GENERATION OF NEONATOLOGISTS

The first project will train future health leaders, through the purchase of new twin preemie simulation mannequins.  This innovative technology includes a kit specifically designed to teach future clinicians how to identify congenital anomalies.. The second portion of the donation went to the which allows neonatologists like Dr. Deepak Manhas to share knowledge and skills to the next generation of specialists.

“I am so thrilled with this support! This mannequin is the perfect device for teaching residents how to effectively deal with neonates experiencing rare and difficult resuscitation conditions. It really is a life saver.``

FASTER DIAGNOSIS FOR NEW MOMS

The Auxiliary also funded a new Bladder Scanner for new moms. By proactively diagnosing incontinence issues before mom and baby go home, clinicians are able to refer women to appropriate treatment that much faster. This early diagnosis can save women from months of discomfort, embarrassment, and even pain. It dramatically improves her health outcomes.

For women from smaller communities across the province, this fund helps cover relocation costs when they need to spend part (or all) of their high-risk pregnancy at BC Women’s.
